David Sandgrund

David Sandgrund  (Dai Wei Shi) was born in Brooklyn in 1942. His family moved to East Meadow, Long Island when he was 11. He has three siblings: two sisters and a brother.

He was drafted in 1966 and spent most of 1967 and a month of 1968 with the US Army in Viet Nam. In recent years he has been sharing his poetry about his experiences in Viet Nam with a veterans writing group at Fordham University.  This is his first  collection of these poems.

Most of his working life was spent in the international transportation business, ending his career working for a Chinese company and spending much time in Shanghai. He is an avid traveler, photographer and reader of Asian history. Several of the poems in this collection were first published by the Veteran Writers Group at Fordham University.

David and his wife, Alice, live in Brooklyn; they have two children, two grandchildren and another on the way.
